Shit for brains, stink for soul. Ares

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power along with the cities of Pasadena, Glendale, Riverside and Anaheim have chosen, as of November, not to renew their contract with Intermountain, a coal-fired electricity provider. Harumph. After 3 years of failed negotiations, Intermountain is forced to go back and find ways to become compliant with new green house gas regulations that have only recently been enacted. Wow.

Meanwhile... nations not having signed the Kyoto treaty are going to be busy in the next decade. The United States - 72 coal power plants set to be built. India - 213. And last but certainly not the least, China, coming in with a whoping 562 coal-fired plants, or one plant firing up every week to ten days. Yes. That will result in about 2.5 billion tons of added CO2 emissions. By the way, Kyoto would have cut a mere fifth of that amount, or about 500 million tons, in the same time frame.

I say we raise our glasses to the worst possible solution. Our message to the future... "Fuck you, we do what we want."

Cheers,
Odes

Certainly a severe problem, but not with the urgency of the corn crisis.
