Simple Questions

Over the last six months, I have asked people these two questions:

1. When was the last major successful terror attack in the US?
2. Why haven't there been more terror attacks in the US?

Thank God, or the Flying Spagetti Monster, or whoever, if any, is your supreme being, that I have the Bill of Rights protecting my answer to question 2. As for Q1, the last major US attack was the anthrax attacks (hardly anyone remembers - I think five died). Curiously, no culprit has been identified and this doesn't get much press attention.

Clearly, the bad guys have the means to commit acts of terror in the US. But they don't. Why?

Don't even start to tell me it is due to the brilliant security plan implemented by Bush - his demonstrated incompetance in all things puts that meme to rest quickly. But why no attacks? Does the Bush crime family have a deal with Osama? We know were he is, yet we don't have him. We know they can hit us, yet no terror here. Why? Just wondering.

They want me to live in fear, but I see little to be afraid of. Except for evil corn.

It seems to me that Al Qaida is really busy right now training new recruits in Iraq and learning our military tactics. Financial and political damage being suffered by the U.S. from this war is a huge victory for those involved.

If I were in charge of the American front for Al Qaida, I would be waiting. The terror level is still high (we're under a yellow alert now) and all they have to do to get us jumping is to make a phone call to CNN or the the Homeland Security office (Seig Hiel).

I would have supplies coming in randomly on cargo ships. A load of explosives here. A load of low grade radioactive material there. Keep some cells making dirty bombs. Some over here monitoring the security at nuclear power plants.

You know, just wait. Why be in a hurry, the radiation will last for thousands of years.

Agreed. We are currently damaging ourselves more than Al Qaeda could ever hurt us. And Al Qaeda is going to school on us, getting ready for the big one. No doubt.

But does that explain the total absense of attacks in the US? Why haven't there been a least a few suicide bombers? Why not more anthrax? More embassies, more ships? Such easy targets.

Sorry, but the tin foil stays on for now. What other reason is there for not getting Osama and al-Zawahiri? All we get are a bunch of "the number three" guys.

Fuck, we found Saddam in a hole. I don't think we are even trying. Why? There must be a deal. Maybe a deal with Pakistan, covering for Osama? This doesn't make sense.

A deal makes perfect sense. We are doing business with his family and lots of people who might be offended by our presence and domination.

Also, some would consider that finding Osama would mean success. This could signal a beginning to an end in the War on Terror. This war with no end is like the golden goose for the military contractors and Halliburton types. As long as they're making money...
