OK everyone. It's the moment we've all been waiting for.... a "This one time Mike Schoen....." contest.
Let's demonstrate to Mike why blogging is better than masturbating.

This one time, Mike Schoen kidnapped me and made me throw all of his lawn furniture on the roof of his house. I was a complete stranger to him, my first time in California and still very green about life in general. He invited me to his house to meet Janet and watch an Arkansas Razorback football game. I graciously accepted not knowing the peril and that this decision would follow me for the rest of my life.
I mean I’d heard about those things before, but hey, I said I was green.
It was somewhere near the third quarter, if I remember we possibly won that year. But the Back’s usually choke hard so that is probably what happened. Either way we threw his furniture on the roof as protest or celebration. I remember thinking “Why” and being worried about the neighbors as Mike almost sanely instructed me on the ins and outs of achieving the best aerodynamics.
I think it’s all still up there. We stood the rest of the night.
After careful consideration, I think Mike's right about this one.
No way. On general principal he's wrong. And I'll tell you why.
Mike’s argument is that this is a waste of time because there is nothing of intrinsic value that comes of it. If the writing is good it should be applied to something that pays bills instead of squandered in a blog.
I think that is completely wrong. I enjoy dialogue, and debates and opinions. I like to be around people that aren’t offended by cannibalism etc. And I want to say to others who will listen what I think is bull shit. In my voice and if they don’t like it they won’t come. The ones who “get it’ will remain. (This is for Tavia) That is why this blog is so important. It is an exchange of philosophy, not a display of bravado.
Besides, ideas come and go every day. It’s just the way you think about it. You never run out of material really.
I guess you could choose to form your opinions from the media feeds, not be privy to new angles from like minded thinkers and ignore all of the signs of the coming Apocalypse. If you did that then I suppose you could say Mike is right on this.
